T-Systems embraces change
T-Systems is recognised as more than just an innovator in its field of information communication technology. T-Systems set out, from its inception in South Africa to proactively participate in the transformation of this country, and the broader ICT industry, using its resources, influence and networks to create a sustainable economy for itself and those around it. As a multinational, it has always been T-Systems' view that effective empowerment is critical to business success in South Africa.
A six-point approach to transformation was developed and it is aligned to the ICT charter. This includes equity ownership (African Renaissance Holdings and Awari Investment Holdings hold 30% shareholding) , employment equity (T-Systems is ahead of own targets), skills development (T-Systems believes highly in empowering its employees as well as giving opportunities to young external previously disadvantage individuals who are placed on our Apprentice Program) , preferential procurement, enterprise development and corporate social investment. In alignment with the ICT charter T-Systems’ has strict internal procurement policies that promote equal spending opportunities with BEE suppliers. T-Systems has made considerable strides in Enterprise Development in the form of investment towards Faranani. This beneficiary entity consisting of previously disadvantaged Individuals, received support in the form of business contracts, rent of premises, infrastructure, computers as well as time spent with employees of T-Systems.
As a multi-national company operating in South Africa, T-Systems South Africa has both the privilege and the responsibility to contribute to the development of our Country. T-Systems South Africa is rated a Level 3 Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) contributor, based on the Codes of Good Practice on Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment Gazetted on 9 February 2007. As Level 3 Contributor BBBEE procurement recognition is 110% for companies that buy services from T-Systems. T-Systems is also recognised as a Value Adding Enterprise and customers can therefore count 138% of their total spend with T-Systems towards the Preferential Procurement BBBEE score of their own organisation.
